We need each other.
We see God and ourselves reflected in each other’s eyes.
These were our stories of despair:
The stories of we the misfits, the “queer” the “faggots” the “dykes”. We were the outcasts, the outsiders, especially from the world of faith, “It’s Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.”
We were told that who we are is not acceptable to God, to the family, or to the culture, we so desperately tried to fit; we prayed and prayed to be different, to stay within the lines.
But we couldn't - we can’t.
We were hidden, shamed, shunned, excluded.
We lived double lives, attempted suicide, cut, did drugs, alcohol. We loathed ourselves.
Some of us were threatened with death in the name of honour.
